Aurora has developed three new LED T8 safety tubes as part of the Luna range of energy saving solutions. These direct replacement tubes are the first to receive safety certification from the Lighting Association of Great Britain and have been developed in direct response to concerns over the well-being of installers. The tubes are said to be designed and manufactured differently to other T8 tubes, where it is possible for the installer to receive an electrical shock by touching one end of the terminal pins as the tube is installed into the lamp holder. The products feature an LED starter which allows for safe lamp replacement. Each tube comes with plastic end caps to prevent the pins from breakage during transportation. The products feature rotatable end caps so that light can be directed precisely where it is required and the tube may also be installed where the lamp cap is side entry. The T8 Premium, PIR and Emergency lamps have three rows of LEDs with a frosted or clear diffuser. PIR technology detects body heat and movement providing control. Potentiometers allow for the adjustment of brightness and time delay and can be adjusted between 30 seconds and 30 minutes. The timer comes into operation after last movement in a room has been detected. The lamp sets to the pre-set value of 0, 10, 20, 30 or 40% of light output. PIR detection is 120 degrees and the detection range is 5 m from ceiling to floor. The T8 LED emergency tube can provide back-up operation for up to three hours. It features an integral battery where no additional power source is required, delivering >10% lumen output in an emergency.
