AfricaGIS 2011 will be held from 7 to 11 November 2011 in Abuja, Nigeria. This conference and exhibition event, focusing on geo-information science, technologies and applications in Africa, has grown since its launch in 1933 to become a leading platform for geo-information professionals, vendors and practitioners to interact through learning-based exchanges on geo-information science and technology and its application. The conference theme is “A geospatial technology revolution in Africa” with sub-themes relating to: spatially-enabled governance; enterprise GIS and land administration; new trends – crowd sourcing, volunteer geographic information (VGI) and web services in the cloud; and business geographics. Participants from around the world including researchers, academics and policy makers, technologists, vendors are invited to take part in an extensive programme of plenary presentations, oral paper and poster sessions, exhibitions and special sessions as well as training workshops. The conference will be conducted in English with simultaneous translation into French of the plenary. There will be one high-level plenary keynote session per day, four parallel 20 minute paper presentations. A poster session will be organised as well as special technical training sessions and business meetings. There will also be a vibrant exhibition by vendors and various organisations.
