Sponsors for surveying and geomatics indaba

Sponsors for the South African Surveying and Geomatics Indaba 2013 are lining up fast. Optron has come on board as the lead sponsor taking the Diamond sponsorship, TGIS the Platinum sponsorship and Southern Mapping the Silver sponsorship. Optron will also be hosting its user conference on 22 July 2013 at Emperors Palace, the day prior to the main conference. Exhibitor space is selling out fast too, with 23 exhibition stands already being scooped up.

The South African Surveying and Geomatics Indaba 2013 is being held from 23 to 24 July 2013 at Emperors Palace in Ekurhuleni, Gauteng. The event is jointly hosted by the South African Geomatics Institute (SAGI) and EE Publishers and is expected to be the surveying and geomatics event of the year. A first announcement and invitation to sponsor, exhibit, present, attend and participate at SA Surveying and Geomatics Indaba 2013 has been issued.

The event, which incorporates a conference, exhibition and training sessions, is primarily aimed at leaders, academics, professionals, technologists, technicians, students and companies in the public and private sectors involved with or interested in:

  • Surveying (land, hydrographic, construction, mine, photogrammetric, aerial and space-based)

  • GNSS, GPS, navigation and positioning technologies

  • Geomatics and geographic information science (GIS)

  • Remote sensing and photogrammetry

  • Mapping and cartography

  • Location-based applications and business

  • Geospatial data and databases, data analysis and maintenance

  • Software, tools and equipment for the surveying and geomatics industry

Surveying and Geomatics Indaba 2013 is supported and endorsed by: the South African Geomatics Institute (SAGI), the Geo-Information Society of South Africa (GISSA), the South African Council for Professional and Technical Surveyors (PLATO), and EE Publishers. PositionIT magazine from EE Publishers is the official supporting journal for SA Surveying and Geomatics Indaba 2013.

In addition to the exhibition and conference with academic and general papers, there will be a heavy emphasis on vocational training, skills upgrading and continuing professional development (CPD), through an intensive series of practical, hands-on training workshops.

PLATO has advised that delegates will be credited with one CPD point per day for attending the conference. Presenters at Surveying and Geomatics Indaba 2013 will earn additional CPD credit.

A formal Call for Sponsors, Call for Exhibitors, Call for Papers and Call for Delegates will be issued shortly, but in the meantime, expressions of interest by sponsors, exhibitors, presenters and delegates, and requests for further information, are welcome.
