The new Eurolux range of lighting motion detectors is said to offer an effective occupancy sensor solution for most commercial, industrial and residential buildings. The range consists of recessed and surface mounted models with Lux levels ranging from 3 – 2000 Lux (adjustable). Their detection distance ranges from 12 m on the CO98 to 2 – 16 m on the CO95. The latter features a microwave sensor for installation in boardrooms and offices, or outdoor bulkheads with diffused or frosted lenses. The CO96 is a surface mounted infrared sensor most suited to use in offices, boardrooms and residential homes, with a 380° detection range. With such sensors, motion is detected when an infrared source such as a human passes in front of another infrared source with a different temperature. The sensors react to the changes in heat patterns created by the moving person and turn lights on accordingly. This product is also available as a recessed unit. The company says these are highly resistant to false triggering, relatively inexpensive, and do not radiate any energy. Because they operate on a line-of-sight mechanism, however, they do not work optimally over long distances (> 12 m) or in rooms with obstructions such as office cubicles and are best suited to spaces with few obstructions. The CO98 is a surface mounted unit which can be installed in the corner of the office or home. Adjustable time limits allow the user to select how long the light should stay on after activation. Each of these models offers a time range of between ten seconds and seven minutes.
