GISSA Ukubuzana 2012 is primarily aimed at leaders, academics, professionals, technologists, technicians, students and companies in the public and private sectors involved with or interested in geographic information science (GIS), information and communication technology (ICT), global positioning systems (GPS), surveying, remote sensing, and location-based applications and business.

General papers, short papers and poster papers should be original and previously unpublished in South Africa, and must be submitted using the on-line abstract submission system for general papers, short papers and poster papers for GISSA Ukubuzana 2012:

General papers, short papers and poster papers submitted for presentation at GISSA Ukubuzana 2012 will be selected on the basis of significance, relevance, correctness, originality and clarity following a peer-review process by the GISSA Ukubuzana 2012 papers committee.

Upon acceptance, the final peer-reviewed general papers, short papers and poster papers will be published with an ISBN in the printed Proceedings of the GISSA Ukubuzana 2012 Conference (ISBN 978-0-620-52913-6), as well as on the conference CD and website. A 30-minute slot (25 minutes with 5 minutes Q & A) for general papers, a 10-minute slot (8 minutes with 2 minutes Q & A) for short papers, and a poster paper session will be allocated at the conference to present the papers.

Important deadline dates

• 6 July 2012: Submission of abstracts of general papers, short papers and poster papers for review
• 11 July 2012: Notification of acceptance of abstracts of general papers, short papers and poster papers
• 13 August 2012: Submission of full-text general papers, short papers and poster papers for peer-review
• 10 September 2012: Submission of final peer-reviewed general papers, short papers and poster papers for inclusion in the conference proceedings and CD
• 17 September 2012: Registration of presenters of accepted general papers, short papers and poster papers
• 25 September 2012: Submission of PowerPoint presentations for conference CD
• 1 October 2012: Mounting of poster papers in the poster paper gallery by the authors
